Houston: We May Have A Problem
Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Fact: Turtle is 20 months and 14 days.
Fact: Turtle is just over 36" tall.
Fact: Turtle weighs about 35 lbs.
Fact: Turtle's 2T jeans/pants are noticeably snug and when he woke up from his nap today, his size 5 diaper had ripped at the "seam."
Fact: Overnight diapers only go up to size 6 (which he currently wears). Regular diapers go up to size 7.
What the hell are we supposed to do?
Yesterday, I was at Target and picked up a pair of 3T jeans on clearance. Just to see.
Turtle's 2Ts are getting snug in the waist. They fit perfectly length-wise, but ... I decided to see if 3Ts might be more comfortable for him.
Oh, yeah. They fit fine. They are a little long, but a simple cuff takes care of that problem. And MacGyver picked up a box of size 6 daytime diapers at the store today, because we noticed that the 5s were getting a little small.
Which leads us to a dilemma. He is NOWHERE even close to being interested in the potty. I mean, he LIKES the potty well enough. He likes coming in the bathroom with me, and trying to wash his hands and opening and shutting the door. But other than that? Zip.
But at this rate, it feels like he's going to actually outgrow his diapers before we get to the potty training point. I am thinking about picking up a potty training seat in the next couple of weeks to see if we can't jog his interest, but I'm nervous about the whole thing.
Fact: Mommy is not equipped to deal with the rapid growth and growing up of her little Turtle.
So she will distract herself (and you) with pictures of Turtle with his new toy. These are Melissa & Doug Nesting Alphabet Stacking Blocks. He was introduced to them at his friend H's house and I just had to get him a set of his very own.
Yesterday, he enjoyed building the tower with his Daddy and then toppling it.
Today, he took a more serious and deliberate approach.
Just love the way this one came out. I've added "architect" to the list of future career possibilities :)

I love Melissa and Doug stuff!! He is a big boy!! Alexis has been outgrowing 2T for about a month now too, however the diapers are still ok.
Get a potty!!!! Put him on it, just for him. Just so he gets used to it. Do it a few times a day. Read books, play games, sing songs while he's on it. He will go by accident and then make a big deal about it. He'll get the concept and understand what its for. He may not be "ready" to be potty trained for a long time still, but at least he will be introduced to the potty and understand that's the concept!
I have a Fisher Price one what sings a song when they go - it's really cute!!!
Aww, I love the blocks!! We need to keep them from growing! Maybe try some Pull-ups?
