Kelly Ripa's Cake Off for a Cause: Ripa and Electrolux team up against Ovarian Cancer

I'm posting to ask for your help in the fight against ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women. The American Cancer Society estimates that 21,650 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the U.S. in 2008 and about 15,520 women will die from the disease. It is an insidious disease that can strike without warning or cause.

That's some pretty sobering stuff.

And it's also why television personality Kelly Ripa, TLC's Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro and Electrolux have teamed up to take a stand against this horrible disease.

There are two ways you can help.

1. Vote on your favorite cake
On February 9th, five teams of baking enthusiasts were selected to compete in a contest to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Research. Working with Ripa and Valastro, they baked and decorated cakes to be voted on. For every vote cast, Electrolux will donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fun (OCRF), and voters will also be entered for a chance to win the new induction range by Electrolux.

2. Send a virtual cake Decorate a virtual cake and send it to a friend. For each cake you send, Electrolux will donate $1 to OCRF and you will be entered for a chance to win the range (registration required to play).

Also, Electrolux will donate $100 to OCRF for every new induction range purchased in the month of February.
