Happy Valentine's Day!

Sunday, February 14, 2010

It's not turning out to be quite the Valentine's Day we had in mind, due to a case of the blahs on my part. Not sick, not *not* sick. Just a general feeling of icky.

Boo.

MacGyver got up early and took Turtle out to pick up bagels from a real NY bagel place. Fresh and doughy, just like bagels were meant to be. Yum.

I lounged around, set out presents and waited for their return.

Turtle has finally figured out how to open presents. Yay. We got him a few little things: colored pencils, play-doh and some books.

After naps and lunch, we did an impromptu photo shoot.

Someone is a ham.

A ham who loves lollipops.

Warning. There are baby toes ahead. Brace yourselves.

OMGSQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!1111!! Don't you want to tickle those piggies?

Cheeeeese!

Cheeeese the other way!

Sharing a kiss with Daddy.

Cherry brandy roses from MacGyver and Turtle. Such sweet boys.

Pugs 'n' Roses, anyone?

Beautiful box of Godiva truffles. MacGyver said that Turtle picked each one. Such a sweetie. Maybe there was one missing from the box by the time I got to take this picture. I'll never tell.

Tonight, we were supposed to go to PF Chang's, but MacGyver has put the kibosh on it because I'm not 100% (He probably doesn't want to be seen in public with me because I'm getting a huge "blemish" on my chin, and he's humiliated. It's ok. I know the truth). We'll bring in some takeout from down the street, but it's not the same. Rain check, honey. Rain check.

After dinner, we're entering into a no-technology zone (no latops; no crackerries; no iPhones), and we're going to have wine, cake and a movie. Please let it be The Time Traveler's Wife!

Also, MacGyver was awesome today.

When Turtle went down for his nap, he sent me back to bed. Worth one point.

Turtle woke up before me, and MacGyver got him up and dressed in exactly the outfit I wanted him to wear for pictures. One point.

He fixed a yummy lunch of grilled cheese and peas (another point) and then? He opened Turtle's new Tag Jr book, went looking for and actually found the USB cable to sync the book to the Tag Jr scanner, completed the process, put the cable back and got Turtle using the book. Yeah, 17 kajillion points right there.

And then? He tells me that if I hadn't woken up in time, HE was going to go ahead and take the above lollipop pictures for me. Swoon. And do they even make enough points for that? No. They do not.

It almost makes up for the fact that MacGyver chose today to reveal to me that the smell of Play-doh makes him gag. I'm not really sure how this is going to play out for us. Play-doh is clearly right up there with rubber cement and those black Sanford markers in the metal cases. You know the ones. I think I should have been informed ahead of time.

I'm a lucky, lucky girl. Fantastic husband, amazing son, wonderful pugs... I mean, really. This is what it's all about.

Enjoy your day, readers!

You made the right decision staying home. Tonight will be chaotic and not relaxing. Movies, take out and your boys sounds perfect. I LOVE the pictures of turtle. So adorable.

Okay-I have to say this because you are talking about play-dough and you have a dog. This is a terrible story, but I am on a mission to spread the word. A woman in our music class came in teary eyed the other day and announced that her dog had passed away over the weekend after eating an entire batch of homemade play dough. (not commericial). I guess when you make it at home it has so much salt in it, that it can be toxic when eaten in such quantity. Okay sorry to be debbie downer.... but maybe i'll save a doggie's life. :)

That is the saddest thing ever. Do you hear that, people? Commercial Play-doh only! I know for a fact that canine consumption of commercial play-doh leads to colorful poop.

But I'm still sad. :(
