Sundays in Fall

Of course, now that we have all those pumpkins in the house, I felt compelled to put them to use!
With football in the background, I selected my victim.
DH helped out by getting the top off while Turtle offered assistance from the sidelines.
Eeeewwww.
I was planning to use the pumpkin flesh to make a soup, but you know what? Canned is so much easier. I did save the seeds for toasted pumpkin seeds for DH. I made them with butter, sugar and cinnamon.
All clean and ready to go!
Now, I admit, I cheated. I did not draw this bad boy by hand - I used the handy template in the pumpkin carving kit we got at Target for a whopping $3.99. Hey, even a domestic diva has to cut corners sometimes. If you haven't done this, I assure you, this is the way to go.
The first cuts.
All done!
DH, Turtle and Oscar give the seal of approval.
Outside, ready for it to get dark!

That is fantastic! Did you really use the pumpkin cutter knives from the kit? I can never make those things work right.
I really did. I had to use Jeith and real knife to get the top off, but once the inside was scraped out(I think the trick is getting the wall of the pumpkin super thin), I was good to go. I was pretty impressed with myself.
That pumpkin looks adorable! You rock! :) And, I agree about the canned pumpking being easier for the soup. Apparently, the kind you carve isn't the same as the kind you are supposed to cook with - I learned that the hard way.
