A little of this and a little of that.

I know, I know. You don't have to tell me. I haven't been keeping up.
Well, I've been busy. So there.
In addition to baking, I've committed to some volunteer work at Diamonds in the Rough Farm. It's a really great opportunity for me to utilize some of my professional skills and help me become a better role model for Turtle by doing something to help others. It's my hope that as he gets older, he will use that example to willingly donate his time, services or things to help people or animals in need.
In the meantime though, here's our Week in Review:
First, we gave bananas a shot. Turtle was extremely receptive to the idea of something new coming to his high chair tray.
He grew suspicious when he learned that he was going to have to do get the pieces to his mouth all by his lonesome little self...
And was slightly displeased to learn that bananas are a bit more slimy than one would think.
All that aside, the sound that goes along with this picture was a big, fat "MMMMMMMMM," accompanied by lots of kicking, so that's a good sign.
Moving on... The Great Bookshelf Project. Here we have the shelves, filled with actual books. The damask pattern comes through just enough to make an interesting background. I'm going to finish up that room this week and will have more pictures of the final product.
Next: Dinner with Mommy and Daddy. We went to Campeche Bay for some ridiculously good Mexican food and margaritas. Turtle was a little cranky so we ate in shifts, but it was good to get out.
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's: Uncle J! And his muddler! Making us grapefruit mojitos! Uncle J drove all the way from Savannah to spend some time with us. We made bar snacks, sat out on the newly cleaned patio and sipped our cocktails. What a nice, lazy Sunday.
Since banana was such a hit, Daddy tries out some avocado from my homemade guacamole. Yum. You can see that Turtle was in love - he just leaned back and let Daddy help him out.
Bentley, our Elvis-lipped wonder.
Molly, princess of the pugs. Not pictured, Oscar, who refused to pose for me :(
Sunglasses are so fun! Let me lick them!
Finally getting used to Uncle J - just hanging out back.
