Day 4: 30 Day Shred - level 1

Thursday, March 19, 2009

I haven't given up yet.

However today, I have good news and bad news.

The good news:

  • My chest and wrists feel better
  • My knees aren't popping quite as much
  • Aside from the pushups and the side lunge/anterior lift thing, I can keep up with Natalie, which means...
  • I am feeling slightly comfortable with Level 1
The bad news:
  • I've discovered a weird muscle in the side of my right quad. I know it's there because it hurts.
  • My comfort means that it's almost time to move to Level 2
  • I am watching Level 2 right now to mentally prepare myself and I'm scared
  • My trainers failed, as shown here:

That's ok, though. The pugs work super hard all day being cute. They deserve a break.

My bright spot today was that I caught Glamazon Natalie cheating! She was supposed to be doing lunges and bicep curls, and she was all deep-lunging until she thought the camera was off her and then .... THREE CURLS WITH NO LUNGE!!!! Hey, if she can do it...

I kid, I kid. I know I won't get to look like Natalie by faking my lunges. So I don't.

I'm really kind of bummed that I can't do all the push-ups. I was planning to wait to move on to Level 2 until I had those mastered, but is one exercise really going to make that much of a difference? They do a different style of them in level 2, that look equally challenging, so is it really going to hurt me to kind of do my best and really kick boo-tay on everything else?

I will ponder that.

I also hopped on the scale this morning. No major difference, which is fine. I can absolutely see some definition in my arms and shoulders, and I can tell there is some firmness, somewhere deep down on my abs. My legs are tighter too and that's good. I can't imagine that in 4 days I would see huge differences, so I'll be patient. ;)

I found your blog searching for others in pain over the 30 day shred level one workout! LOL. All I can say is that we're in the same boat. My dd is 13 months old and I'm two weeks into level one (doing it only every other day max). I can finally do all the pushups but those darn anterior raises kill me everytime! And, I only use a 3lb. weight! Yikes.
