Having fun around the house

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Turtle just makes me laugh, sometimes.

He wanted some "chee-chos" (cheerios) and so I gave him a little cup of them one morning. I explained to him that these were HIS chee-chos, for his enjoyment only. That he was not, under any circumstances to give the chee-chos to the pugs.

As you can see, he's a super-duper listener.

I particularly like how he is totally avoiding eye contact with me and Oscar, while tipping the chee-cho bowl in his direction. Nicely done.

We have an advent calendar. It's another fantastic Target purchase that we've had for a few years, and looks like a stack of presents. Each present has a little door and we put Hershey's kisses behind each one.

Now, Turtle gets the honor of opening each door and getting the kiss. It's amazing how quickly he took to this tradition.

What's behind Door #3?

Holy. Moly. It's "chockliss!"

It is shocking to me how this child figured out how to remove the paper Hershey's flag and peel the foil on his first try. Clearly, eating Hershey kisses is instinctual.

I had to help him out. He was not shy about snatching it from me.

Mmmm. Chockliss.

Another fun thing. I found Replacement Monkey. Turtle's "lovey" is Monkey, and I got a backup at a gift shop somewhere. I had intended to switch them off repeatedly, but then I lost Replacement Monkey. And then, when I was looking in the junk closet for Modge Podge... I stumbled upon him again.

Wheeee!

Unfortunately, Replacement Monkey is in somewhat better shape than Original Monkey. And Turtle is not fooled by our trickery. He's more than happy to enjoy the affections of two Monkeys, but Original Monkey is the only one who has a place in his heart.

DH and I sort of feel badly for Replacement Monkey.

We started hanging the Christmas lights yesterday. The weather hasn't been great and it was freezing out. Brrr. But we pushed forward. We had plans to go to Panera for lunch and then get out tree.

Panera is really perfect on a cold day. They have such yummy soups and now they offer... drumroll... macaroni & cheese.

Turtle's a fan.

We had to go to two tree lots, in the rain, but that was ok. Turtle loved scooting through all the trees.

More pics of the end results to come!!!
