So remember that gorgeous, Food-Network-inspired marshmallow wreath?
Yeah...
Well, I popped that bad boy in the fridge overnight to "set" and the next morning, was delighted to hang it on the wall. Inside, so it wouldn't tempt any critters. Lord knows we have enough of them already.
Isn't it beautiful?
I started to go about my day. And then, I heard the softest of pingings. I turned. Nothing. The noises continued, sporadically, seemingly without cause.
And then I noticed it. The wreath was shooting marshmallows!!!!
No. Way.
Armed with my gorilla glue, I tried to stay on top of it, but... well... honestly, after repair attempt #17, I was kind of over it. No wreath should be this much work, ever.
I removed it from the wall, let it sit on the kitchen table for a few days, where it openly mocked me. DH was put in charge of its removal from the house.
Clearly, it made him very sleepy. This is how DH and Bentley spend weekend mornings around our house. Very productive. Very.
In other edible decoration news, the roof of DH's gingerbread house slid off. I think it's been because of the heat in the house. Either way, it was quite tragic.
Last night, we buckled down to handle the "assembly required" portion of Christmas. We had to build Turtle's art desk and Imaginarium train table. We started around 7pm. DH primed himself with some Crown on the rocks, and then got to work.
He muscled through the art desk with only one small error, that was quickly corrected.
And then it was on to the train table. There were A LOT of pieces.
At one point, DH was at such a standstill that Bentley came up behind him and fell asleep on his bum.
But by 11ish, we were finished, and everything is hidden away until Christmas Eve.
Also yesterday, we got Turtle's haircut. He is such a little trooper. And he looks like such an adorable little man.
We planned on baking cookies today, so I dressed him in his "I ate Santa's cookies" shirt. Adorable.
We gave him some rugulach pastry to play with while DH and I did the hard work of stuffing with jam. He tossed it to the dogs.
DH took his job very seriously.
He also got to use the mixer for the first time. Under my careful supervision.
Turtle takes it all in.
This is pretty cool, mom. Pretty darn cool.
Brotherly love. :)
Showing off some chocolate dipped shortbread, sprinkled with sea salt. Yum.
