C is for Caterpillar and Let's Go Yankees!

Monday, October 19, 2009

I post on an international mom's board, from which I get all kinds of great ideas. An extremely creative poster (elliesmomma), was kind enough to make up a weekly letter project, which she describes and illustrates for us to put to our own use.

I have to admit, I hadn't been paying much attention, simply because it wasn't on my radar. However, with Turtle's new love of painting and our new supplies, I figured now was as good a time as any to start.

I was ill-prepared. Turtle was having a rough day, and my mind shot to the only project I had managed to get a decent look at: C is For Caterpillar. Construction paper "C", glue to more construction paper, glue on pompoms and GO.

And so I quickly whipped up a C and glued it down. And wrote out the necessary caption.

I then snagged my child, who was dancing around my legs, although not necessarily excited about what was going on. I distracted him by letting him play with some of the bigger pompoms while I got everything set up.

I gave him his water, glued down the first pompom, and showed him how fun it was. Wheee!

I just love the expression he is making in this picture. And that bat? It has to go everywhere. He loves it.

After a few minutes, he started saying "Pear! Pear!" For whatever reason "Pear" is his way of saying "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." I guess because there are two pears? I don't know. It's funny how their little minds work. So I got it for him. I suppose he needed a point of reference in order to do more pompom gluing.

As a sidenote, he got a little caught up and started saying "pickle, cupcake, pickle, cupcake, pickle, cupcake." Too cute.

Ready to continue.

Adjusting the angle so he can stick that last one down juuuuuust right.

I drew some antennae on it with a red crayon, and voila! C is For Caterpillar. Tomorrow, we will return to A and try again.

I apologize for the darkness of the next pics. And for Turtle's awful bedhead.

Anyway, Nana and Papa Bear sent a box of clothes, including this awesome Derek Jeter shirt.

Daddy tickling him, while watching the Yankees game, wearing his Yankees shirt and carrying his Rays bat. At least the bat is the right color.

Bentley. He's judging us all.

This photo is blurry because Turtle kept running around the corner like a crazy baby - these are all live action.

Pooped. Let's go Yankees!
