A break in the weather
Monday, October 19, 2009
Let me tell you, this past weekend was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. In the 40s-50s at night, and 60-70s during the day... We had the windows open, the long sleeves on, and we just reveled in all the glorious fresh air.
There was no way we were staying inside this weekend, so we picked a few activities where we could get our fill of the weather.
Saturday morning, we had planned to hit up a Farmer's Market. Unfortunately, when we arrived, it was... well, let's just call it underwhelming. There were only 4 tables, and it really wasn't worth it to stop.
Though disappointed, we forged on to the OP Harvest Festival. We had gone last year, and while it was cute, the weather was bad (cold and rainy). This year was bright and beautiful.
Turtle, taking it all in.
Turtle with his little friend, H. She was VERY excited to see him. So excited, it would seem she was about to eat his face. :)
He had his first funnel cake and I had my first deep-fried oreo (religious experience).
Then it was home for a long night of sports. The Yankees and the Hurricanes were playing at the same time! The Canes took out UCF pretty nicely, while the Yankees went to 13 innings to dispense with the Angels. (Confession, I went to sleep at the top of the 9th).
On Sunday morning, we had to make a quick trip to pick up a fleecy jacket for Turtle and then it was on to the local pumpkin patch!
There is a little church that sets up a pumpkin patch by our house, run by some adorable older gentlemen. I love giving them our business. They do a hayride through the fields, and their prices are great.
Turtle, crossing the bridge to the patch. He's such a big boy, turning down all offers of help.
Wait a minute. You didn't tell me there were plastic flags here! Plastic flags are so much cooler than pumpkins!
Oh. It's you, Mom. Taking pictures again. Shocker. Really.
Picking a pumpkin.
This one is huge. Let's take it home.
Daddy and Turtle on the hayride.
All done.
The three of us on the hay ride. Don't let Turtle's less-than-thrilled face fool you. He had fun. I promise.
Picking more pumpkins.
Posing.
Well, this is interesting...
Out of the mouth of DH: "Out of all the pumpkins here, who wants the weird, red, bumpy one? My kid!"
But he settled for this one, instead.
After sushi and a nap, Turtle was ready to paint his new pumpkin.
This child is enamored with brushes of all kinds: paint, hair, whatever.
Daddy, get your hand out of here. I'm doing the painting!
The finished product. He did such a good job.
Victory is mine!
In the meantime, Mommy carved a pumpkin.
Not bad!
