Happy Second Mother's Day!

Sunday, May 10, 2009

At this point, I think it's time to say a kind word for DH. Poor guy. He gets nailed with Turtle's birthday, my birthday and Mother's Day, all within ten days.

Most men would crumble under the strain and pressure. Not DH, though. He takes a deep breath and plows on through. As Ramona, of the Real Housewives of NYC would say "Kadoos" to him!

This morning, I got to sleep in. Apparently, while I was doing that, Oscar had a mega accident in the house, which led to a kind of sketchy time for poor DH. However, he didn't come running to me for help and I had no idea til I got downstairs. On the other hand, Turtle was up, fed, dressed and playing happily when I came down.

Our big plans involved going to 95 Cordova for brunch with some friends. Oh. My. God. Ohmigod. Did I say oh my God? On a regular day, this place is phenomenal. I'm not really a brunch buffet person, but I am prepared to make an exception: omelettes to order, mini belgian waffles, creme brulee french toast, carving stations, cheese stations, salads and antipas galore. And as if that wasn't enough? Pastas, crab cakes cooked at the station, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon and stone crab legs! And then, dessert. Pies, pudding, creme brulees, a chocolate dipping station with homemade truffles, chocolate cake, carrot cake, cheesecakes. And finally, unlimited champagne and mimosas.

Of course, ambiance and service were two big thumbs up as usual.

After that, it was naptime. For everyone.

When we woke up? Turtle treated us to some more unassisted steps. He can do 5-8 at a time now, and he's starting to figure out what he's doing. He giggles so much though, he can barely keep himself upright. It's so much fun to watch.

Once we got him in bed, DH went out and planted some azaleas for me. It was boiling hot and there were tons of gnats (which he despises) but he did it anyway.

He and Turtle also gave me a MyAgenda.

I've wanted one for a very long time, and now that business is starting to take off for me, it seemed a great time to start. I need something where I can keep track of everything all at once, and this is perfect. It doesn't start til August of this year, so I have plenty of time to set it up and get it ready. I just need some August events to plan!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there! Hope it was fantastic.
