Romantic Getaway

So DH totally went above and beyond this week. He planned a lovely, romantic getaway for two at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island and it was perfect.
We left yesterday in the early afternoon so that we could try to catch one of the last showings of Twilight, my latest obsession. We got tickets, settled in the theater, and when it was showtime, a theater employee came to tell us that there was a problem with the projection and the showing was canceled. Boo. He gave us a refund and tickets for readmission at a later date. I was totally bummed, but we had to solider on! We took the scenic route to Amelia Island for check in.
DH booked a romance package, which included an oceanview suite and dinner at the onsite restaurant, Salt. We were met at check in with champagne, and we were also given a book, also named "Salt: A World History" and a packet of sea-salt for cooking, in honor of our dinner that night. Fun.
We got to the room, and turned on the TV, and wouldn't you know? They had movies for in-room rental that were still playing in theaters. And would you believe it? Twilight was on the queue. Squee!!! We got a cocktail and watched it. We both loved it.
In the meantime, DH asked me if I wanted a massage or other spa treatment. I said that in a perfect world, I would like highlights and a cut. I haven't had my hair done in eons. The next thing I knew, he had picked up the phone and booked a massage for him and hair for me. I think I heard angels sing.
Then, we got cleaned up for drinks and dinner. We had a drink at 8, the sports bar, and then went to Salt, where we were treated to even more champagne before our meal. Dinner was phenomenal. For an appetizer, we split this ridiculously high-grade tuna, wrapped in slivers of black radish and topped with hyssop and grated truffle. It was served with pineapple soy sauce and chili oil.
They brought us bread with hand-churned, unsalted butter, and then gave us this assortment of different salts to flavor it. The restaurant uses over 30 varieties. My favorite was the white, followed by the large-flaked gray one. The candle was made out of salt rock, too!
DH got filet and Maine lobster tail. It was served with a mashed potato cigar and root vegetables.
I got the sea scallops, Maine lobster and prawns, served over a bean ragout and a side of mashed potatoes. It was so. Good.
DH got the chocolate hazelnut souffle for dessert...
And I had an apple phyllo purse with rum raisin ice cream.
We went off to bed, and slept in til a whopping 7:30! After breakfast, we wandered the grounds and the beach a bit.
And then it was off to the spa. He got a great massage. I had a fantastic time with Victoria, who gave me the most fantastic treatment. DH loved it so much he said that we are going to make a point to go every 6 months or so for a spa day. That will be incredible.
It's hard to tell from this picture but I love my hair!
And, of course, Turtle, gnawing on some bread crust to help his poor little gums.
