Happy Easter - MAJOR UPDATES

Sunday, April 12, 2009

That's right - the Easter Bunny has for you tons and tons and tons of photos. How's that for a gift? Sit back and enjoy.

First, we visit a few days ago, when I used Turtle as a pawn in a joke I wanted to play on DH. Bad Mommy. DH was planning to mow the lawn, and then the mower failed. After several hours and countless phone calls, he was having no luck, so I put Turtle outside with his Fisher Price mower and a sign: Lawn Service for Hire/3 Cookies per Hour. The sign didn't mention this, but the little pug assistant gets paid in carrots. She's extra.

Yesterday, we went to our community's Easter Egg Hunt. It was fun. Clearly, Turtle had no idea what was going on, and he was more than happy to just play with his eggs and his bucket. He loved it when Daddy got down on the ground with him to play.

Between errands yesterday, I finally mostly finished planting our front garden. It was quite the undertaking, seeing as how I despise dirt and I kill pretty much all plants in a 50 ft. radius, but I'm stubborn, so I gave it a shot.

The aztec grass replaced the mexican heather that was killed during one of our freezes (THAT one I can't take credit for).

New azaleas in the back row, alternating fushia and light pink. So far, the hydrangeas against the house are still in bloom and thriving. Yay.

Next up, we also suffered a bit of a loss. Our dinosaur of a TV died a tragic death. It had a good life with us, and it was time, but the thought of navigating an electronics store with an almost one year old in tow was enough to strike panic in my heart.

We plotted a route: HHGregg, Best Buy and Target. We arrived at HHGregg and ::cue angels singing::. What an amazing experience. Not ONLY did they have the exact tv we were looking to buy, but it was $100 less than Best Buy's sale price. Even better, the display was set up on the exact TV stand we wanted for it. Fate, I tell you!

I had budgeted a set amount and after the plasma, the stand and the service plan (get this - if they can't fix your TV in-home, they will give you a loaner until they do, among other things) came in well under that number. We did well, I think.

We did have some work cut out for us when we got home. The old TV was set up in a wall unit, which was designed for TVs that stand on the floor. This clearly would not work, so we broke it down and placed the shelving units as freestanding elements in other parts in the house.

The shelves with DVDs back behind the couch and the console table moved over. It works. It actually gives us some more room, too, which is nice.

Which brings us to Easter morning. Here are the baskets the Bunny brought.

Turtle is extremely excited by his stash.

Daddy gave him a few of our colored eggs to play with. Too bad I don't have a photo of Turtle's official first green tongue.

Daddy also went ahead and surprised us with homemade chocolate chip waffles. Yum.

While Turtle napped, Bentley took a break from his busy pug things to lay on Daddy's back.

Our eggs.

Up from nap and ready for the day!

Wow! The Rainbow Fish! That Easter Bunny knows his stuff!

What are you doing over there, Dad? The basket is this way!

Check out my cool Fisher Price Little People Egg! Awesome!

Hai!

Molly, pretty in her Easter bow.

What? You never heard of the Easter Pug?

It wouldn't be a holiday in our house without some special dessert: daisy-shaped rolled cookies and pink lemonade cupcakes with buttercream and a lime twist.

And finally, dinner: mint and garlic lamb, devilled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, green bean and feta salad, cheesy baked potatoes and yeast rolls. Oh, and a lovely shiraz. :)

Delicious.

Happy Easter to all, and to all a good night!
