A little winter NFL chat

Monday, February 25, 2008

Figured we could all use a break from baby and house chit chat, so let's turn our attention to the Miami Dolphins and football season.

First, the Dolphins have released Zach Thomas, who has since signed with the Dallas Cowboys. I'm ok with the decision. While I'm annoyed that the Dolphins let him go (not on the same level as the Travesty of the Release of #83 Wes Welker, Who Is Now Dead To Me), I can understand. With him getting older and being out all last season with concussions, it's hard to see how he's going to fit in with the 2008 system. And better the Cowboys than the Patriots or the GanGreen.

Of course, this leads me to the Curse of the Jersey. I have a collection of Dolphins jerseys.

#83 - He Who Is Dead To Me - well, we all know what happened there... exactly three games after I got it.

#23 - Ronnie Brown - injured at the beginning of 2007, out for the season

#54 (3 of them!) Zach Thomas - released, and off to the Cowboys.

So, what to do? I've been looking at the Jason Taylor jerseys, but I'm afraid it will doom him to be released from his contract, too. Some may say that the Dolphins should let him go so he can win a Superbowl, but I disagree. There are no guarantees. Sure, the Dolphins are not in a great position for a shot, but anything can happen. And obviously, Tom Brady and the Patriots showed the nation that there are no sure things in football:

PS - Jason Taylor will be a contestant on Dancing With the Stars next season. Don't forget to vote! :)
