Our Date Night, A New Tub, Etc.

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Last night, we went on a date. Whoo-hoo!

DH was kind enough to take me to see Gavin DeGraw in concert at Freebird Live. I really like him - he's a very talented musician, and he's just amazing on piano. I saw him once before when I was working on an Anthem Live event, and he was great.

We dropped Turtle off with A and J and their baby N at around 6:30/7. Turtle was totally ready for bed, so we kissed him good night and headed out. We got dinner at Campeche Bay on the beach and let me tell you - it was amazing. We used to go to this place down south that had the most incredible enchiladas verde. I haven't had anything remotely close until now. We will definitely be back.

We sat at the bar and chatted for a while with a couple of Packers fans, visiting for today's game. They were really sweet, and it was nice to have that ad
ult connection.

At around 9:30, we headed over to the venue. The ticket person said that the act before Gavin was something worth seeing. The kid's name was Shawn Fisher. He had a great voice. Not really my style, but I could see the talent.

Gavin took the stage around 10:30 and did about 45 minutes. I wish I was able to get a better picture, but I had my old camera with me, so this is what we have. He didn't sing my two favorite songs, but he was great nonetheless.

In other news, we decided that Turtle has outgrown his bathtub. We tried bathing him in our roman tub, but... he really wasn't having any of it. We hit Babies R Us the other day and they recommended an inflatable tub to give him the additional security. Well, it was a good call. Turtle loves it.

He got his fish and he was good to go. DH was trying to teach him how to splash, but he really wasn't interested.

In Target, I broke down and bought Turtle a few pairs of Baby Legs for winter. He wears a onesie under his sleep sack, and sometimes, I'll put pants on him for layers. However, it's bulky and doesn't look comfy. I figured the Baby Legs would be the perfect solution. I intended to put them in his stocking, but I couldn't wait: I cracked open the skull and crossbones ones last night.

DH said as long as he didn't start rocking out to Irene Cara, he supposed leg warmers could be tolerated. Pffft. What does he know.

Last, but not least, the tree is finished. I love how it came out! And it's a great tree - it's drinking and healthy, and I think it's really going to make it all the way to Christmas.
