Happy 3-Month Birthday, Turtle!

Someone is such a big boy!
I called Dr. V this morning to discuss his eating. The soy seems to be working well for him, but he's not satisfied. Where he once was sleeping 6-7 hours (especially at night), he is now back to 4-5, and he's waking up HUNGRY. Like "give me my bottle NOW, lady" kind of hungry.
So we talked about starting cereal. She pointed out that they like to wait til 4 months, especially in premie cases because that's when most babies have the necessary head and neck control, and also, there is an allergy concern for starting too soon. However, she also pointed out that some 1 month old babies with reflux are on cereal to help with their issues, so it's really case by case. We decided to go ahead and give it a shot.
I ran to the store to get the necessary supplies (infant spoons and cereal) and we decided that his 11:30 feeding would be the best time to start, just in case it didn't agree with him. He was ravenous and so we got off to a bad start - he wanted nothing to do with the spoon or the cereal, so we gave him a few ounces of his regular bottle and then tried again.
He. Loved. It.
It took a minute for him to get the hang of the spoon - he didn't like that I took it away to get more cereal - and then he was opening up his mouth and licking away. It wasn't even as messy as I expected. He did great at swallowing. He got through about 1 oz of cereal and 5 oz of straight formula, and now he's sleeping away. We'll give a little more before bedtime to see how he does through the night.
PS - Regarding my big news. I am not pregnant. The factory is closed, and production has ceased.
