Doctor Update: Again
Monday, July 7, 2008
DH called the pulmonologist today to see what she had made of Turtle's monitor reports. As with everything, there is good news and bad news.
The bad news? Turtle will stay on the monitor another month or two as a precautionary measure. The doctor told us that since they book really quickly, we could go ahead and schedule an appointment for September. She will keep a close eye on the reports as they come in every two weeks and if things improve, we can cancel the appointment.
The good news is that she is not at all concerned. She determined that Turtle was having an average of 1-2 bradycardias a day but they all came during deep sleep, he self-corrected all of them and his breathing was never affected. Even though it was alarming to us, she doesn't see anything to worry about and still feels it's something he will grow out of.
To prove her point, since the last reading (Wednesday of last week), he has only had one brady alarm, so he's already beating last time's "average." We have our fingers crossed that his streak continues.

He'll be off that monitor in no time. He's just getting in practice at giving you grief as a teenager.
