On Monday, the Miami Hurricanes opened up the season with a game against FSU at Doak Campbell. To celebrate, we all put on game gear and went to Chick-Fil-A, which was offering free chicken sandwiches to customers wearing their team logo. Woot!
Leave it to CFA to bring together bitter rivals in one happy, chicken-loving embrace. The place was packed with fans from all over. We had so much fun.
Turtle's shirt was a little big, but it's ok. He loves it anyway? Oh, and the Canes won 38-34. Yay!
I ventured on to Craig's List for the first time this week to look for a new wagon for Turtle. It's been something I've been looking at, but just haven't been able to commit to. Fortunately for us, a family in the next neighborhood was selling this great Radio Flyer for a fraction of the cost. Score!
We went to check it out and it was in great condition. Turtle LOVED it. He was giggling and when we went to load it in the car, he cried - he couldn't bear to part with it. Poor thing.
This morning we were able to take it out for its first walk. He was thrilled.
And now we turn our attention to something more serious.
Tomorrow, I am leaving for a 3 day trip. Without my Turtle. I am going to one of my best friend's baby shower on Saturday, and it's 4.5 hours away. Turtle and I were going to make the drive and stay with family, but my aunt caught a nasty cold type thing and it's just not going to work out :(
I am able to stay with another of my best friends, and Turtle is welcome to attend the shower, but DH thought that maybe it's best that he just sit this one out. It's a long drive, and Turtle doesn't really sleep when we are away. It would just be easier to make the trip. Alone. :(
And that's not even the worst part! Tonight, I brought Turtle upstairs for his bath and pulled my suitcase out. He started playing with it, flipping the lid open and shut. I let him while I ran his water and got his pjs. After we got him to bed, I opened up the suitcase again and found this:
This is (Mon)Key2. The substitute lovey purchased in the event of sudden loss or tragedy befalling (Mon)Key. I don't know if Turtle recognized the suitcase and wanted to make sure that we didn't forget his toy, or if he wanted me to have something to remind me of him, but... well... there have been a few waterworks tonight.
I'm going to miss that kid.
