Lobster Revisited
Tuesday, January 6, 2009
Well, we are indeed, lucky, lucky people.
My grandmother called the other day, all verklempt because she forgot DH's birthday. She apologized profusely, and then today, her gift showed up: Dinner for Two, from Legal Seafood.
Oh. My. God.
So DH opened the cooler to find New England Clam Chowder, crab cakes, two servings of Boston Cream Pies.
And two, 1 1/2 pound Maine lobsters. Packed in seaweed and lemons. Very much alive. Ack.
Let's just say they were quite active throughout the afternoon, and freaked me the hell out. We ahd to put a stockpot on top of the cooler just to make sure we didn't have any escapes.
Here they are, completely unsuspecting.
Since it was DH's gift, he had the honors of "cooking" dinner. Into the pot.
And out of the pot.
On the platter, ready to go.
I helped by heating up the clam chowder and baking the crab cakes. I also made a curry mustard for them. Yum.
Oscar was a little sad that there was no lobster for him. :(
DH, in his Legal Seafood bib, with the included crackers, ready for dinner.
Save room for dessert!
The whole thing was soooo good and such a special treat. I wish we had a Legal Seafood in the area, but I guess, in the meantime, I guess we know how to get it.
